WOOSTER, Ohio — The Wayne-Ashland Dairy Service Unit and OSU Extension-Wayne County have announced their annual Dairy Summit and Twilight Tour. It will take place July 15 at Zido Valley Dairy, 3024 South Jefferson Road, Wooster.  The events are open to anyone with an interest in the dairy industry.

This year, the Dairy Summit program will focus on manure application research and the role of manure and perennial forages on soil health. Presenters include Glen Arnold, OSU field specialist; Dr. Doug Jackson-Smith, professor of agro-ecosystems management; Chris Zoller, OSU Extension; Brian Baldridge, director, ODA, with updates from the Ohio Department of Agriculture; and Scott Higgins president/CEO of ADAMideast and the Ohio Dairy Producer Association.

The Dairy Summit will run from 3 to 5 p.m. followed by the twilight tour from 6 to 9 p.m. Zido Valley Dairy, operated by the Zimmerly and Douglass families, is west of Wooster and has 1300 cows, all in their first lactation and are milked in a double-18 GEA parlor.

During the event, a selection of food truck vendors will be present providing sandwiches and beverages at a cost of $10 per person. Each attendee will also receive a voucher for free ice cream when they register. The summit and tour are free and open to the public.  Parking will be at the farm. In the event of inclement weather, parking and shuttles will run from Triway High School.
