CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Franklin County Holstein Association will hold their annual picnic on Tuesday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m. The Shannon and Sam Kane families will host the event at their Raising Kane Farm, 7973 Upper Strasburg Road, Pleasant Hall, Pa.

The Kanes have a 200-cow herd housed in free stalls and milked in a double-8 parallel parlor. They have a herd average of over 28,000M, 1130F and 934P. They select for high production with acceptable type and use Select’s mating program, as well as Select’s CowManager system. They farm 500 acres.

A free meal served by Long’s Catering will be offered to everyone who attends. Dairy businesses will be sponsoring the event so please be sure to thank them. Please bring your lawn chair.

The schedule for the event will is:

6:30 – 7:30       Registration and meal

6:30 – 7:45       Cattle judging

8:00                    Door prizes      

Directions to the farm: From Pleasant Hall take Upper Strasburg Road and go 1.4 miles. The farm is on your right.
