STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Holstein Association’s next “Know What You Buy” heifer sale is set for Thursday, November 13 at the Association’s farm, 1806 River Road, Middletown.
“The cattle market continues to be strong because there’s brisk demand for bred and open recipient heifers,” says David Lentz, PHA’s director of marketing as well as executive director. All four sales in 2025 so far have averaged $2500 on all age heifers. “Increased demand means improved prices. If you have extra heifers now is the time to sell,” adds Lentz.
The sale is accepting heifers of all ages and stages from close springers due late November (instant milk) to 6-month-old calves. The market favors springers and ready to breed heifers.
The sale is called the “Know What You Buy” heifer sale because at least 95% of the heifers will have sire ID, if not registered. There is a bonus if heifers are bred to sexed semen. Also, there will be a payback if your heifers are tested negative for leucosis. Full pedigrees are sought after too.
If you are a dairy producer or heifer raiser from the Mid-Atlantic Region or other parts of the United States and have heifers to sell, then please contact David today at director@paholsteins.com or 717-329-9202.
