STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Nominations are being welcomed now by the Pennsylvania Holstein Association for four recognition awards. The deadline for submitting applications  is December 1. See end of article how to send your nomination to PHA. The four awards are:

PHA Pioneer Memorial Award

This award is to posthumously recognize an individual, not already in the Pennsylvania Holstein Association Hall of Fame, for their contributions to the Holstein industry at the local, state and national levels. This award will be selected by the Hall of Fame Committee and be awarded to no more than one person per year.

Nominations can be made on behalf of former Pennsylvania Holstein members who worked for the improvement of the Holstein breed and its members in Pennsylvania.

Distinguished Young Holstein Breeder This contest is open to any Pennsylvania and National Holstein Association member between the ages of 21-40 (as of January 1, 2026) who owns or has management responsibilities for a herd of cows such as a herdsman, partner, or member of an LLC. The herd must be on official DHIA test.

The award is to recognize accomplishments of Young Holstein Breeders and to encourage them to establish goals that will aid in their management decisions to help achieve a profitable dairy operation.

The winning entry from Pennsylvania will receive a complementary room at the 2026 State Convention and Convention Banquet tickets. They will also have their entry sent on for National competition.

Distinguished Supporter Award

This award is presented annually to recognize an individual or company (not a current dairy farmer/producer) who through their work has supported and enhanced the work and goals of the Pennsylvania Holstein Association. If an individual is nominated, they must be living at the time of the nomination.
