COLLEGE PARK, Md. — University of Maryland Extension, University of Delaware Extension, and the Maryland-Delaware Forage Council invite forage producers, grazers, livestock owners, and associated industry personnel to attend the upcoming Maryland-Delaware Forage Conferences. Dates, times and locations follow:

• Delmarva Forage Conference

January 13, 9 a.m. – noon at the

Delaware State Fairgrounds, 644 Road 316, Harrington, Del.

• Southern Maryland Forage Conference

January 20, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the

Calvert County Fairgrounds, 140 Calvert Fair Drive, Prince Frederick, Md.

• Western Maryland Forage Conference

 January 21, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the

Grantsville Volunteer Company, 178 Springs Road, Grantsville, Md.

• Central Maryland Forage Conference

January 22, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the

Mt. Airy Fire Company Activities Grounds, 1008 Twin Arch Road, Mt. Airy, Md.

• Topics for the Delaware conference will be characteristics and identification of Delaware hay and pasture species, overview of fertility recommendations for forage crops, updates on issues with Delaware forages, managing machinery costs for forage production, and pasture weed management.

• Topics for the Maryland conferences will include native warm-season grasses as a tool for forage production, effective establishment of native warm-season grasses, timothy as an annual forage crop, optimizing pasture systems for smaller farms, understanding tick risks for livestock production, a review of the top disease, weed, and insect pests from 2025, and a pesticide/nutrient management update.
