SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa — If you have thoughts about organic certification, you are invited to do so. As a ‘thank you’ for completing a brief survey, you’ll receive a chance to win a $50 gift card.
This invitation comes from the Organic Farmers Association (OFA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
What’s your experience with SOE?
The Strengthening Organic Enforcement (SOE) Rule went into effect in 2024, bringing new requirements to how organic farms get inspected and certified. OFA and New York University are collecting data, and need to hear from organic producers about what’s working and what isn’t.
What OFA is asking:
Submit a brief, 26-question, 15-minute survey about your farm operation and certification history.
- Your experience with the application and inspection process
- Record-keeping requirements and costs
- Your interactions with inspectors
Why your input is critical
Organic farmers know first-hand the realities of filling out the Organic System Plan, managing inspections, keeping records, and navigating costs. With farmers’ insights, OFA hopes to improve the organic certification and inspection process for organic farmers.
What else to know
By completing the survey you will be able to enter a lottery for a chance to win one of ten $50 gift cards. Your personal information will be protected and only researchers may access information that could personally identify you.
Ready to share your experience?
Complete the survey. The organic community is strongest when members learn from each other. Please take time to ensure your voice is heard.
