LEBANON, Pa. – The Lebanon County Holstein Association invites members to a bus tour of four exciting herds on Tuesday, March 24. The group will meet at the Lebanon Area Fairgrounds Exposition Center at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday and return around 6:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged bring a packed lunch and RSVP to either Derek Good (717) 679-8112 or Tyler Zimmerman (717) 381-8259 by March 21.
The first stop on the tour will be Hollow Ridge Holsteins, owned and operated by the family of John Ervin and Sarah Joan Stoltzfus. The herd totals 76 lactating cows with a BAA of 110 and an RHA of 25,300. In 2024, they navigated a 32-stall expansion. Tour attendees will enjoy seeing daughters of Delta-Lamda, Altitude, Tatoo, Eye Candy and more. In their heifer pens, they will highlight daughters of Dropbox, Pazzle and Exclusive.
Laphall Holsteins and Leo-Holme Holsteins will be the second stop. Laphall Holsteins is owned by Amos and Sylvia Mae Lapp and Leo-Holme is owned by Leon and Marian Lapp – second and third generation dairy farmers. Together, they operate a 58-cow tie stall with two-thirds of cows classified Very Good or Excellent. Some highlights include an EX-92-MAX-RC Delta Lambda x EX-96 Aria Adler and numerous daughters of EX-92 Goldwyn Heart x Hezbollah.
As the third stop on the tour, the Eachus family and Myerwood Farms LLC will invite attendees to their 1000-cow Registered Holstein herd. They have an RHA of 29,700M, 1159F and 920P and milk 3X in a double-12 parabone parlor. Myerwood leverages innovative technologies to improve herd health and management and can share about their experiences with the smaXtec animal monitoring system, BouMatic milk meters, DairyComp management software and more.
The fourth and final stop will be Garden State Holsteins in New Jersey. The herd totals 75-80 lactating cows in a tie stall barn with an RHA of 26,800M, 4.0%F and 3.2%P and a BAA of 111.7. They have 29 Excellent and 51 Very Good cows. This stop will be exciting for Red & White enthusiasts as approximately one-third of the herd is Red & White.
