SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Schreiber Foods announced plans on March 10th to invest $132.9 million to expand production capacity at its manufacturing facility in Shippensburg, Pa. The expansion will add new yogurt production lines and increase the plant’s milk processing capacity by about 109,000 pounds per day.
Pennsylvania is providing $1 million through the Pennsylvania First Program to support the project. According to state officials at a press event, the investment is expected to create 47 new jobs over the next three years while retaining 516 existing positions at the facility.
Schreiber Foods, which has operated in Shippensburg for more than two decades, produces cream cheese, natural cheese, processed cheese, beverages and yogurt products.
Company officials said the plant typically sources milk from about 165 farms across 11 counties in south-central and southeastern Pennsylvania.
