MERCER, Pa. — In celebration of July being National Ice Cream Month, the Mercer-Northwest Guernsey Breeders’ Association will once again sponsor their annual Guernsey Ice Cream Social. It will be held on Friday, July 10, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Mercer County 4-H Park (1 mile north of Mercer on U.S. Route 19), rain or shine.
There is a modern playground available for the children. Proceeds are used to support Guernsey programs, including youth projects and 4-H. Come and enjoy some good ice cream and a time of fellowship. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Prices are as follows: adults – $8; children (ages 5-10) – $5; ages 4 and under, no charge. Generous portions of ice cream with strawberries and chocolate toppings will be served. For those who can’t stay and sit a spell or who just want some ice cream for later in the season, ice cream in half gallon and three-gallon containers will be available for purchase.
People travel from far and wide to be a part of this special evening, which has been going on for over 60 years. For more information, check out the sponsoring organization’s Facebook page under “Guernsey Ice Cream Social.”
