
HAMBURG, N.Y. — The excitement was clear and the spirits were high as the New York Holstein Association kicked off the New York Spring Dairy Carousel at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg on March 20-24.
This first show of the 2025 season saw entries from 15 states, Ontario and Quebec. More than 50 volunteers, the Erie County Fairgrounds staff and numerous sponsors ensured that this show went off without a hitch.
The first two days were devoted to Junior activities and shows sponsored by Feedworks USA. Nearly 100 Juniors participated in the judging contest led by Junior Executive Committee Judging chair, Alexis Schultz. Adult mentors, Carrie Edsall, Kevin Ziemba and Doug Waterman, conducted a judging workshop before the participants judged 4 classes, answered questions and gave reasons on two classes.
Some 116 juniors competed for the champion showman honors. Addison Brown was awarded the prize for master showman, received $500 sponsored by Meghan McGarr Lampman. Matthew Richenberg was named reserve master showman, receiving a $300 check from Lampman. Jake Buckley was named honorable mention master showman.
Judge Cassie Menendez placed 108 entries in the Northeast Spring National Junior Holstein Show.
Isaac Folts with Tusc-Vu Avalanche Cali-ET came out on top and was awarded the banner for grand champion. The reserve title went to Cherry-Lor-W Ripples-Red-ET owned by Phillip McCormick and Bethany Eberlin.
In the International Junior Jersey Show, Menendez placed 86 entries. Nicole Arrowsmith, at the halter of Hillacres Lala Shleeping Beauty, was named grand champion. Named reserve grand champion was SVHeaths Colton Jazlyn-ET owned by Camryn and Maci Crothers.
Farm Credit East sponsored all five shows on Sunday, March 23.
Judge Jenny Thomas placed the Northeast Spring National Red & White Show, which had 139 entries going through the ring. Oakfield Corners Dairy with MS-T-Triple-T TL Fame-Red-ET was named grand champion. The reserve champion was Thornside Rager Reba-Red, owned by Bob Nagel, Brock Liddle and Paul Zombec.
In the Ayrshire ring, Judge Marjorie Rida named Mulligan Palmerton’s Jackson-Hill Beguiled Curry as the grand champion of the day. The reserve title went to Halls V-Lane Spectacle-ET owned by Ashton and Levi Wilcox.
In the Milking Shorthorn Show, Judge Rida named Dan Hosking’s Weismann Belero Bonnie as the grand champion and Landon Neely’s Bell VF Deuce Lana EXP-P as the reserve grand champion
Judge Rida also placed the Guernsey show. Jocelynn McMurray’s 4-year-old, PR Thayer-View Latimer Carly, was named grand champion followed by Maplehurst Pilot Treat as the reserve grand champion. Treat is owned by Mount Elgin Dairy Farms and Austin and Megan Landkammer.
Finishing the show was Judge Thomas in the Brown Swiss ring, naming Pierre Boulet’s Pit-Crew Rampage Nola OCS grand champion and Kaufman’s All-Glo Rampage Prim-ET as the reserve grand champion.

The Northeast Spring National Holstein Show saw 286 entries grace the shavings in Hamburg on Monday, March 24, the final day of the show.
Judge Ryan Krohlow named Oakfield Corners Dairy’s Lovhill Sidekick Kandy Kane grand champion. Reserve honors went to Glamourview Farm and Eaton Holsteins with Underground Adeline.
Judge Kelly Barbee placed 162 entries in the International Jersey Show. He found his grand champion with JPL Joel Adelia, owned by Vierra Dairy. Reserve honors went to SVHeaths Colton Jazlyn-ET, owned by Camryn and Maci Crothers.
