House Ag reconciliation includes some farm bill

Late Wednesday evening, May 14, the House Ag Committee wrapped up its SNAP Integrity and Farm Security markup on strictly partisan lines as part of the budget reconciliation process. On 29 (R) to 25 (D) votes the whole way through, the Committee advances its response to the Budget Committee instructions, and ultimately the House floor as part of the one-big-bill later this month. In this package are some pieces of the farm bill, while other pieces are reserved for separate consideration, deemed outside of the budget reconciliation parameters. Included in
the package moving forward are the reauthorization and raises to crop reference prices, the crop insurance programs, and the Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC). The latter would be reauthorized until 2031, with a raise in maximum tier one coverage level from 5 million to 6 million pounds of annual production history and provisions to update production history.
