ORWELL, Vt. — The Vermont Ayrshire Club will be hosting the 150th National Ayrshire Convention, July 1-5 in South Burlington. The club is dedicated to the development and promotion of the Ayrshire breed with a large emphasis on youth in Vermont, New England, and across the U.S. Club members are honored to be bringing the national spotlight into their great state that is deeply rooted in agriculture.
The upcoming convention will be an event that provides educational, leadership, and social opportunities which attract dairy enthusiasts from all around the world. Spotlighting youth from Vermont and allowing them to demonstrate their abilities on this national stage will be one of the highlights of the convention.
Youth will be competing for a variety of national championship contests such as: Quiz Bowl, Dairy Jeopardy, Educational Displays, and National Ambassador contest. We will be introducing the International Youth Grand Prix that will be a combination of problem solving, critical thinking, and dairy industry knowledge in a multiple event contest over the span of convention.
Ayrshire cattle have grown in popularity due to being the true “all-purpose” breed. Farms of all sizes have embraced the breed due to their high components, grazing, and cheese making attributes. More and more youth have chosen Ayrshires for projects due to the wide range of versatility they provide.
The convention hosts’ main goal is to strengthen the dairy and ag community. They are reaching out to local businesses asking for their financial support for this once-in-a-lifetime event. “The dairy industry is a large part of our community and the stronger it is, the better it is for all of us,” declared a member of the convention planning committee.
They thank you for considering to give support to their event. Donations can be made payable to the Vermont Ayrshire Club and mailed to Vermont Ayrshire Club, c/o Susan Paterson, 43 Old Stage Road, Orwell, VT 05760.
