FREDERICK, Md.  — Consignments are being sought for the Mid Atlantic Brown Swiss Sale, to be held on Saturday, April 11, at the Frederick Fairgrounds in Frederick.

Sale organizers are looking for a strong group of calves, including older heifers and bred heifers that combine a good blend of production and sound type. Also welcome are March calves and embryo packages. All pedigrees and information will be in a printed catalog and also posted on line.

There has always been a strong demand for the calves that go through this popular Spring sale. Consignments from past sales have gone on to do well for their new owners.  Many that were shown stood in the first five placings of their class at qualifying shows, the All-American, and World Dairy Expo.

Please note that this sale is on Saturday, April 11 and there will be a food truck on site serving breakfast and lunch to possible buyers and consignors.

If you are interested in consigning an animal, or wish additional information about the sale, please contact: Dylan Fry 410-708-8983; Jenna Lenhart 814-931-3726; Billie Jo Rhodes 540-292-9366; Joy Widerman 717-7525871; or Ellie Widerman 717-398-4307.

Please don’t delay, the sale committee would like to have information and pedigrees as soon as possible to advertise and compile the catalog. Remember to tell new 4-H’ers and breeders in your area about the quality and success of this sale. There is always something for everyone.  Now is the time to get into the Brown Swiss business as their popularity continues to grow stronger each year.

“This sale has been a great place to buy a 4-H dairy project and has provided some top-pedigreed calves for the merchandising and investment buyer,” noted Cindy Warner, adding that the sale is celebrating its 52nd year.

Chris Hill will be the auctioneer while Jake Hushon will be reading pedigrees. Cowbuyer will also be part of the sale.
