SMITHSBURG, Md. — Meet the breed’s newest EX-96 bull. The good news was received by the folks at Triple-Hil Sires — where he is housed — in late July.
525HO155 Hillmont Jacot Cinnamon-Red was confirmed by a committee of HAUSA classifiers to the prestigious score of EX-96 at the age of 6 years and 10 months.
His breakdown is as follows:
- 98 – Front end / capacity
- 95 – Dairy strength
- 97 – Rump
- 93 – Feet & Legs
Bred by Kirk Hillegass of Somerset County, Pa., Cinnamon has graced the pens at Triple-Hil Sires (THS) for the last couple of years. “He is truly a rare gem in terms of breed quality,” exclaimed Jared Martin, one of the founders and owners of Triple-Hil Sires.
Cattle breeder and current THS distributor Glenn Peachey of central Pennsylvania sum-med up Cinnamon correctly with these words: “I get to see him regularly; he never seems to have a bad day.”
Cinnamon-Red is daughter proven with a very respectable actual Dau FS of 82.1 and a solid butterfat bull at +.15%. He also is a rare 100% RHA bull in the breed.
“He is looking to be a solid choice for components at +.15% fat and +.03% protein, Jared points out, adding: “Cinnamon daughters in general exhibit slower-maturing frames and very promising shallow udders. As a 1-6-2-5-3-4 bull, Cinnamon brings dairyness and style with lots of balance.
