BEDFORD, Pa. — With well over 120 people attending, the 45th Blue Halter Sale came close to setting a record average. Only two sales over the sale’s nearly half-century-long history were higher. The highest average occurred in 2013, clocking in at $3893. The following year (2014) was just a few dollars behind, $3881.

This year’s sale places third on the list with an average of $3712 on 46 live lots.

The high seller was Lot 11, a winter calf named Chupps Mar Gold Coco-ETV. A Missile daughter, she’s out of Mar Gold Hugo Candice (EX-91) and was consigned by Chupp, Nevaeh, Emmet, Tye and Reece of Oklahoma.

John and Patty McMurray of Eighty-Four, Pa., placed the winning bid, $7500.

The second high seller was Hi-Guern-View Drama, consigned by Hi-Guern-View Farm of Orangeville, Illinois and purchased by David Henisee of Mount Joy, Pa. for $7000.

The top-selling embryo package was Lot 49: four James Dean x Lush embryos consigned by Kadence Farm of New Glarus, Wis. Grant, Cara and Simon Itle of Loretto, Pa. spent $650 per embryo to bring the package home.

The sale was chaired by Cara Itle; the auctioneer was Mike Weimer and pedigrees were read by Michael Hurst.
